Polylactic acid (PLA) is a new bio-based and renewable biodegradable material, which is made from the starch extracted from renewable plant resources (such as corn, cassava, etc.). The starch is saccharized to get glucose, which is then fermented through a certain kind of bacteria to produce high purity lactic acid, and then the lactic acid is synthesized to get polylactic acid. PLA disposable paper cup has good biodegradability and can be completely degraded to carbon dioxide and water by microorganisms in nature under specific conditions, causing no pollution to the environment.
